Midas Group moves to Greenmeadow Springs
As part of its Welsh expansion plans, construction firm Midas Group has opened a new office at Greenmeadow Springs business park on junction 32 of the M4.
The Group, based in south Wales, the south and the south west of England, specialise in construction, retail, interiors, affordable housing and developments.
The 60-strong team has relocated from Newport to 4,709 sq ft of office space at Greenmeadow Springs in Tongwynlais, near Cardiff, which it purchased for £720,000.
The new office is home to the Midas Construction Wales team and the south Wales branch of the specialist affordable housing arm, Mi-space, which are both aiming to expand their business further into south Wales from their new Cardiff base.
Midas Construction recently won a contract for the construction of a new £2m mental health and rehabilitation centre in Bridgend for Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University NHS Trust, and Mi-space is currently building a £2m housing development in Barry for Newydd Housing Association.
Dave Haskell, divisional director of Midas Construction Wales said: "We are looking forward to driving forward business here in Wales, and felt that Greenemadow Springs provided the ideal location and modern office environment form which to do this."
Wayne Rees, director at Macob, said: "We are delighted with the sustained level of interest in Greenmeadow Springs. The difficult market conditions have resulted in speculative work onsite grinding to a halt on most developments across south Wales, however, we are confident that we will soon be able to push forward with the third phase of the scheme."
David Williams of Emanuel Jones, the joint agents for the development with DTZ, said: "The second phase of the development totals approximately 35,000 sq ft, and there is now only 3,779 sq ft available to lease, for which two parties have already expressed an interest."
Heather Lawrence of DTZ added: "Foundations have been laid for a further office building of approximately 11,500 sq ft which is capable of being handed over to an occupier within nine months from their entering into an agreement to lease or purchase".
Macob is also currently developing the second phase totalling 64,500 sq ft at Bocam Park, Pencoed, as well as the proposed £200m Wales International Business Park near junction 33 of the M4.
