Health, Safety and Environment Protection

Health safety and environmental management systems

Director's health and safety forum meetings are well established and are held on a quarterly basis. Their function is to establish Group policy, review performance, launch new initiatives, ensure good practice and agree long term strategy.

Concern for health, safety and the environment ranks equally with other management responsibilities and business objectives. Our group-wide framework for managing health and safety ensures conformity and consists of our policy for health, safety and environment procedures, with each operating company implementing the safety management system in a way which deals with the hazards relevant to its business.

Formal training is a key factor in achieving a strong safety culture and a training programme has been developed to cover the specific needs of all companies across the group, training requirements being assessed and implemented by Macob Training Services Ltd.

Commitment

All companies in the Macob Group are committed to a culture of continual improvement and the promotion of industry best practice. We believe that good health and safety practices are not only beneficial to our workforce but also have a positive effect throughout the business as a whole. It is Macob Group policy that all operations are executed at all times in such a way as to ensure that, as far as reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of all employees and persons likely to be affected by our operations, including the public.

RoSPA awards

Macob Group companies continue to win awards for health and safety and in 2007 recognition for the dedication by Macob companies to improve performance was rewarded with five companies achieving RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety awards, two gold and three silver.
