Broadlands
Macob has been heavily involved in delivering the successful 250-acre Broadlands residential development on the outskirts of Bridgend, which also involves a commercial development at its core.
In 1998, Macob purchased 95 acres of land from Merthyr Mawr Estates, with Westbury Homes and Persimmon purchasing the remaining 150 acres. Sister company Macob Civil Engineering was then appointed to undertake major infrastructure works including the provision of a spine and loop road and the installation of mains services.
With the site vastly improved and ready for further development, Macob divided the 95 acre holding into parcels of land, which were sold to major house builders Barratt, Beazer (Persimmon), George Wimpey, Bovis Homes, Llanmoor and Lovell, and 40 miscellaneous self build plots were sold to private individuals.
The 2,000 plus homes are served by a diverse range of facilities, also developed by Macob, including retail and food outlets along with a community church and a £1m day care nursery.
