Macob Projects completes L'Oreal site in under a year
Macob Projects Construction Ltd completed a landmark warehouse facility for L'Oreal in May 2001. The combined skills of the Group ensured the building was completed to time and budget - despite major challenges on site.
The new toiletry and cosmetic distribution centre in Llantrisant created 20 new jobs. Macob Projects was appointed to design, build and fund the warehouse production area, and subcontracted the construction works to Macob Construction to and Macob Civil Engineering. The development included offsite highway works which included a new roundabout and access road.
The scheme provided many interesting challenges, the most notable was a substantial cut and fill of the steep sloping site which covered over 18,000 sq m - the equivalent of three rugby pitches. This was achieved in adverse weather conditions by employment of cement stabilisation techniques.
The scheme was completed on a fast track timetable, and took less than 11 months to build.
The new warehouse production area covers 200,000 sq ft on land adjacent to the existing L'Oreal factory in Llantrisant extending the site by a further 10-acres.
